The next signature on our World Champions poster is 1991 4WD 1:10th Scale Champion Cliff Lett!

At Freedom Hill Park in Sterling Heights, Michigan, Lett qualified his Yokomo YZ-10 in sixth place, despite losing his fastest qualifying time for failing to marshal a round after his. After a win in A1 and a second in both A2 and A3, Lett found himself tied with Masami Hirosaka, however Hirosaka’s fifth-place finish in the second leg was lower than Lett’s second, and using that tie break Lett was crowned champion.

Cliff included some fun notes about these photos he sent –

  1. The trophy is not the original.  The original was dropped during the presentation and broke.  After some debate, the organizer agreed to make a new trophy instead of just gluing it back together.
  2. The wing on the car is not his.  It’s Mark Pavidis’.  Note the different color paint job.
  3. Cliff was without this car for 30 years as it was in Yokomo’s possession immediately after the race.
  4. At some point while in Yokomo’s possession the fourth #6 was removed from the inside of the body.  Cliff believed it was bad luck to have three #6s on the body so he placed a fourth one inside the body.

Thank you again Cliff for helping us out and adding your autograph!
